Now, brethren, we wish to make known to you the grace of God which has been given in the churches of Macedonia, that in a great ordeal of affliction their abundance of joy and their deep poverty overflowed in the wealth of their liberality. For I testify that according to their ability, and beyond their ability, they gave of their own accord, begging us with much urging for the favor of participation in the support of the saints, and this, not as we had expected, but they first gave themselves to the Lord and to us by the will of God. So we urged Titus that as he had previously made a beginning, so he would also complete in you this gracious work as well. - 2 Corinthians 8:1-6

The Antioch Discipleship Center

The Invitation

Beginning in January of last year (2018), God had begun to impress on the hearts of the congregation at Antioch that He was going to prepare us to face a faith challenge in the coming year.  There were a number of things that God accomplished and continued to show the saints of Antioch: this included 1) addition of nine new believers through regeneration in 2018, repentance, and followed by obedient biblical baptism (now three more in 2019); 2) adding a number of families with children; 3) meeting the needs of the saints through incredible faith provision; 4) leading the saints through numerous Bible studies that directed us towards a faith in action attitude (the Book of Acts, the Book of Romans, Slave study by Dr. John MacArthur, Experiencing God by Dr. Henry Blackaby, Follow Me by Dr. David Platt to name a few) and finally this God-sized project—a new Antioch Discipleship Center.

The Vision

Because of God’s work by His Spirit in adding new believers, new families with children and the promise of many more to come, the saints of Antioch are going to be obedient by faith in providing new and additional classroom space in the form of the Antioch Discipleship Center (ADC) for these added families and children.  We realize that this is an act of obedient faith because this is a project only God can accomplish given our current congregation population and finances.  But we also remember the Lord Jesus Christ’s teaching in John 15:1-11—we must abide in Him and bear fruit knowing that we cannot bear any fruit outside of His work in us.  We also know that Paul taught us that the works that God has prepared beforehand for us (Ephesians 2:10) are the works we are to do as obedient followers of Christ.

The Building Itself

What we believe will meet the needs of the saints of Antioch is a dual purpose "stick built" building that is 2800 square feet.  It will have a fellowship room, classrooms, kitchen and restrooms.  It will also have a 30x30 covered connector to the main building with a handicap ramp and steel rail.  We will renovate and repurpose our old fellowship hall to provide a children's wing where our growing children's ministry may have room to expand as God adds to the flock.  This is what the saints of Antioch have prayed on and sought wise counsel on to meet the needs we see as God's Spirit grows the Body of Christ here at Antioch.  We are not planning for what we have now or expect in the next month or so; we are planning by faith on what we believe God is going to do in the next few years.

The price we have found through local estimate to complete this project is $375,000.00.  We have prayerfully decided as a congregation that we are not going to incur debt but trust God's providential care and wait until we have the funds in total to build.  So far, we have been able to raise $22,655.07.

The Obedient Faith
We are a small congregation located in rural Taylor County Georgia just north of Butler.  We typically have attendance of thirty to forty faithful believers who love to study God’s Word.  This congregation, which was established in 1829, has been active for over 190 years and is the oldest active congregation with the oldest sanctuary (built in 1829) in Taylor County.  We realize to take on the ADC building project here will certainly require God to provide and we believe by faith He will.

We want to invite your congregation to be a part of this work of Christ in our little country congregation.  First, we desire your prayers.  The fervent prayers of the saints have availed much as testified in the Scriptures.  Without the prayers of the saints our hearts would be without guidance from our God.  Second, we desire for you to give to the ADC building project.  Paul steadfastly taught that supporting the work of the ministry was important to the church universal so that we might accomplish bringing God glory throughout the world by sharing the Gospel message.  This is accomplished by supporting those who are doing the work of the ministry.  God is doing a mighty and an incredible work at Antioch Baptist Church and we need the help of other churches to continue what God is doing here.

Please pray for Antioch Baptist Church as we follow Christ faithfully, and then consider giving to help us build the ADC as we obediently take the steps that true faith requires.
